Lead Data Scientist 

Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid)

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Scientist to drive complex, high-impact analytics initiatives within a large-scale, data-rich environment. This role sits at the intersection of advanced analytics, business strategy, and technical leadership—working with senior stakeholders to translate data into meaningful, actionable outcomes.

You will take ownership of end-to-end data science projects, mentor junior team members, and play a key role in shaping how data is leveraged to improve operational performance and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver complex data science projects that directly influence business outcomes
  • Design, build, and deploy advanced models and algorithms across large, structured and unstructured datasets
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders (including executive leadership)
  • Partner cross-functionally to define business problems, gather requirements, and deliver data-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain predictive models, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and ongoing optimisation
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning techniques, and data mining approaches to solve real-world challenges
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists, contributing to overall team capability and development
  • Identify data quality issues and implement robust solutions across complex data environments
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and external vendors to enhance analytics capabilities
  • Drive best practices across the full data science lifecycle—from discovery through deployment
Required Experience & Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in data science or advanced analytics roles
  • Proven track record leading projects and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strong expertise in machine learning techniques (e.g. clustering, decision trees, neural networks)
  • Deep understanding of statistical modelling, including regression, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data systems
  • Strong programming capabilities (Python, R, or similar)
  • Experience building and managing complex datasets
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience presenting insights to senior or executive-level stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments
Preferred Background
  • Experience working with healthcare, clinical, or EHR-related data environments
  • Familiarity with healthcare data platforms and tools (e.g. Cogito or similar)
  • Cloud experience, ideally with AWS (certification strongly preferred)
  • Exposure to data in operational, financial, or revenue cycle environments
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.) required
  • Master's degree in Data Science or a related discipline is advantageous
