Role Overview:
We are seeking a Data Scientist with a strong background in big data engineering and advanced visualization to support the Command Audit and Execution Review (CAER) program. This critical role leverages complex financial and operational datasets to enhance enterprise-level financial management across Army commands worldwide.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in data analytics and visualization (particularly in Microsoft Power BI) with strategic knowledge of Army financial/reporting systems and processes. This individual must be able to transform raw, disparate data into meaningful insights, tell the story the data reveals, and deliver decision-ready products to senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Big Data Engineering & Analytic: Design, engineer, and deploy scalable big data models and analytics solutions that integrate multiple Army financial and operational data sources.
- Analytical Transformation: Convert raw, unstructured, or disparate data into structured, validated, and decision-ready insights. Develop metrics, KPIs, and performance frameworks that drive actionable outcomes and audit readiness.
- Visualization & Storytelling: Develop compelling dashboards and executive-level visualizations using Microsoft Power BI, translating complex financial and operational data into clear, strategic narratives.
- Decision Support & Strategic Influence: Provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, enabling improved financial management, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams and commands to refine analytical methodologies, validate outputs, and align data products with organizational objectives. Demonstrate strong executive communication and briefing skills.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree (Ph.D.) preferred.
- Professional Experience: 15 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years supporting Army Financial Management. Demonstrated expertise in data science, big data integration, and enterprise-level visualization, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI
- Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Qlik Sense, Tableau, Power BI, R Studio, Python, and the MS Office Suite. Strong understanding of data modeling, DAX, ETL processes, and automation best practices.
Desirable Experience: Experience supporting HQDA, ASA (FM&C), Army PPBES, audit readiness initiatives, and military financial ma
