About the role: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer / AI Specialist. This role combines responsibilities from both technical engineering and strategic product ownership to drive AI initiatives across the organization.

 

We are seeking an experienced AI/ML professional to design, develop, and deploy machine learning solutions that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making across large-scale electrical infrastructure projects. This role will serve as a strategic business analyst and product owner with AI expertise, capable of identifying business problems, developing use cases, and determining when AI is appropriate versus traditional technology solutions.  Additionally, will oversee the full ML lifecycle, from development of the company AI strategy, data preparation and modeling, integration, deployment, and monitoring, and will focus on embedding AI capabilities into enterprise systems used in the powerline utility and EPC environment.

Act as a bridge between operations, IT, and corporate teams, communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategize and Design: 

  • Partner with finance, operations, engineering, and pre-construction teams to align AI initiatives with business needs.
  • Evaluate business problems and recommend where automation and/or AI can drive meaningful business value; Identify where AI or other technology is the fit-for-purpose solution.
  • Engage with business and operations leaders to gather requirements and design the solution together with the teams’ existing software architect(s)
  • Participate in AI-focused workshops, ideation sessions, and early-stage pilots.
  • Help define and track key performance indicators (e.g., ROI) to measure the business impact of AI initiatives.

 

Prototype, Build, and Scale:

  • Rapidly prototype and build proof-of-concepts to validate AI use cases (such as such as fleet management and utilization, safety alerts, and cost forecasting). Leverage existing foundation models and tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) for efficiency.
  • Perform software development work to integrate AI solutions with existing systems and collaborating with software architects.
  • Embed AI outputs into existing workflows, dashboards, and ERP systems (Primavera P6, Incorta, etc).
  • Collect and integrate data from enterprise systems (JD Edwards, Hubble, EcoSys, HCSS, field sensors)
  • Prepare data and build data pipelines as needed for AI use cases
  • Scale AI solutions to additional projects or business units as needed.
  • Oversee the operational lifecycle of AI models, including monitoring performance, retraining as needed, and ensuring solutions remain scalable, reliable
  • Evaluate and collaborate with external vendors and technology partners, to accelerate delivery of AI solutions and integrate best-in-class capabilities.

 

 

Drive Impact through Applied AI:

  • Educate stakeholders on practical applications of AI. Including where and when AI adds value and the associated limitation and risks
  • Train and upskill staff on AI tools (ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, etc.) and best practices to enable adoption and, creating a snowball effect of adoption across the organization.
  • Communicate technical concepts in accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with enterprise and other Opco teams to align on use cases and share learnings.
  • Fine-tune models for use cases such as predictive maintenance, resource utilization, safety alerts, and cost forecasting.
  • Collect and integrate data from enterprise systems (JD Edwards, Hubble, EcoSys, HCSS, field sensors).
  • Embed AI outputs into existing workflows, dashboards, and ERP systems (Primavera P6, Incorta, etc).
  • Scale AI solutions to additional projects or business units as needed.
  • Partner with finance, operations, engineering, and pre-construction teams to align AI initiatives with business needs.
  • Educate stakeholders on AI capabilities, limitations, and practical applications.

 

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and stakeholders across technical and business domains
  • Strong business analysis and product ownership skills, with the ability to "peel the onion" and get to the root of business problems.
  • Experience with AI tools (e.g., LLMs, Copilot, ChatGPT) and basic software development (preferably Microsoft stack).
  • Demonstrated experience in using context-engineering, RAG, PEFT, and Fine-Tuning techniques to drive accurate, optimized results while balancing cost efficiency
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow) and lifecycle tools (e.g. Azure ML, MLFlow, AWS Sagemaker)
  • Ability to architect AI solutions in partnership with software architects, including understanding of vector databases and model integration.
  • Excellent communication and training skills, able to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strategic mindset to balance speed and quality, and to align with organizational goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in AI/ML engineering, including NLP or computer vision applications.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with OOP and experience in writing modular, testable code and applying unit test-driven development best practices.
  • Solid understanding of model evaluation, statistical analysis, and data visualization techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the powerline utility, EPC, or high-voltage electrical construction industry.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems used in utility construction: JD Edwards, Hubble, EcoSys, Primavera P6, Incorta, Bid 2 Win.
