What the Principal Data Scientist Does Each Day:
- Leads and mentors individuals assigned to data science related stories and projects, providing guidance and expertise in the development and implementation of data-driven solutions
- Collaborates with leadership to define and execute the company's data strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QA analysts, and product management to integrate data science solutions into our products. Support management, customer success, sales, and business development teams with healthcare data science and BrightStream software background and knowledge
- Stays abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing innovative ideas and best practices to enhance our data science capabilities. Identifies opportunities to improve and innovate within our core product and the overall company
- Ensures the accuracy, reliability, and performance of data science models through rigorous testing, validation and ongoing performance monitoring
- Designs and develop sophisticated machine learning models and statistical algorithms to extract actionable insights from large and complex datasets
- Implements advanced analytics techniques to address specific business challenges within the healthcare industry
- Conducts comprehensive data exploration and analysis to understand the underlying patterns, trends, and relationships within healthcare datasets
- Leads efforts in feature engineering, identifying relevant variables and creating new features to enhance the performance of machine learning models
- Collaborates with software developers and data analysts to ensure the availability and quality of data for analysis and model development
- Oversees the deployment of machine learning models into production environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborates with software developers to integrate data science solutions seamlessly into existing software applications or healthcare systems
- Implements monitoring mechanisms to track the performance of deployed models and iterate as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance over time
- Writes complex SQL queries to extract data from source systems and in the BrightStream data model to support and expand the needs of our clinical software product
- Leverages working knowledge of the clinical context of how the data is represented in the front-end user workflow of the EHR, and other partners in the healthcare ecosystem, such as Wholesalers, drug manufacturers, researchers and other healthcare tech companies. Bridges gaps between business problems, technical solutions, and clinical concepts
- Troubleshoots and performs data audits to ensure and improve data integrity; investigate and collaborate to resolve data discrepancies
Our Most Successful Principal Data Scientist:
- Has working knowledge of one or more Electronic Health Record Platforms (Cerner or EPIC preferred)
- Has expert SQL query writing skills in a Microsoft environment
- Is proficient in one or more data mining/predictive modeling tools: Python, R, Snowflake
- Writes reports focused on concepts such as clinician notes and documentation, medications, laboratory and pathology results, and operative reports, etc.
- Is skilled with customer interactions that promote adaptive and effective use of data solutions and the BrightStream software
- Effectively manages multiple projects and activities on a routine basis with minimal supervision
- Has excellent communication skills including oral, written and public presentation
- Tests and evaluates the quality of data sets, algorithms and visualizations
- Has familiarity with HIPAA, PHI and Quality and Safety Regulations
Minimum Requirements for this Role:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior data scientist role
- Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analysis
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and Microsoft SQL
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Solid understanding of healthcare data, privacy regulations, and compliance standards
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms
- 18+ years of age
- Able to successfully complete a drug and background check
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Quva is not able to sponsor applicants for work visas

- The base compensation for this role is estimated to be within the range described below. The compensation offered may vary depending on relevant factors such as experience, skills, training, education, certifications, geographic location, and market conditions
- Range: $113,724 - 156,371 Annually
