Thompson Gray, Inc. is seeking an Onsite Data Scientist/Power BI Developer for a Department of Defense (DoD) project office integrating resource management data and systems (finance, acquisition, manpower) at Fort Eustis in Newport News, VA.
Job Description: The Onsite DS/Power BI Developer is required in-office at Fort Eustis, VA three days per week (Tu, Wed, Thu). The Onsite DS/PBI Dev is responsible for collaborating with business analysts and IT specialists to build a data analytics environment using Microsoft's Power Platform and Azure cloud tools. The DS/PBI Dev will architect, build and support an environment populated by 50+ data sources, 300+ data tables and 10,000+ data points across 7-8 different lines of business (budgeting/financial, contracts/acquisition, manpower/human resources, etc.). New projects require all phase of requirements gathering and documentation, establishing data connections to new source data (PBI Connectors, APIs, Azure SQL, spreadsheets, etc.), data cleansing and normalization, data modeling and data architecture into a unified, cross-domain, integrated environment. Later phases include building advanced data analytics and dashboards from the normalized data using Power BI. The Data Scientist will work closely with our technical and functional staff and the client user community to establish detailed requirements for data management and visualization.
