Position Title: Data Scientist – Forecasting Models (Full-Time or Contract)
Location: This is a remote role, but preference will be given to candidates who can cover EST time-zone.
Team: Product – R&D
Reports to: Principle Data Scientist

Who We Are:
OrderGrid is redefining what's possible in inventory management and fulfillment, purchasing and replenishment, and site operations technology for grocery, food retail, and healthcare industries.

Our mission is simple: to make it smarter, easier, and more sustainable for consumers to access the food and healthcare products they rely on. Our innovative solutions are already transforming the grocery, food distribution, and healthcare sectors - and we're just getting started.

Today, our software powers some of the largest international enterprises and operations in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, the UAE and Mexico. We are an exceptional team backed by strategic partners that are powerhouses in their own right.

Your Mission:

This is not your typical data science role. At OrderGrid, you’ll design and deploy models that directly drive core business decisions from automated replenishment to in-store picking optimization.

You’ll report directly to our Principal Data Scientist, working side by side within the Product team. Expect tight loops with PMs, engineers, and end users.

We move fast and hold a high bar. You’ll tackle complex, high-variance data challenges and turn them into production-grade models that drive real-time decision-making and business growth for our customers.

Requirements

Who You Are:

We’re looking for technical depth, curiosity, and people who thrive in fast-moving, high-performance environments. You bring analytical sharpness and the drive to turn real-world complexity into actionable models:

Academically Strong: You hold a Master’s or PhD in a STEM field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering.

Experienced in Forecasting: You have 2+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, with a strong focus on time series forecasting and predictive modeling.

Statistically Fluent: You bring deep knowledge of probability, statistics, and ML algorithms—especially as they apply to demand prediction and forecasting.

Python Native: You’re proficient in Python and core ML libraries like scikit-learn, pandas, and numpy, plus time series frameworks.

Data Engineering Pro: You’ve built models from the ground up, engineering features, preprocessing data, and working with large-scale raw datasets to create clean, production-ready inputs.

Collaborative by Nature: You’re used to working within interdisciplinary teams and know how to translate messy product or customer inputs into smart technical outputs.

Fast, Clear, Effective: You thrive in high-velocity environments, juggle complexity well, and communicate clearly under pressure.

Bonus Points: Familiarity with SQL, experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch, use of modern AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude, and domain knowledge in grocery, food retail, or perishables.

What You’ll Do:

Forecasting Innovation: Build, maintain, and deploy time series forecasting models tailored for food-based and perishable inventory use cases.

Data Foundations: Clean, prepare, and transform large volumes of raw data to support robust feature engineering.

Exploration & Insight: Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and surface valuable insights to drive modeling decisions.

Modeling at Scale: Apply advanced ML techniques to solve real-world business problems that impact operational efficiency and margin.

Product Integration: Collaborate tightly with PMs and engineers to translate customer feedback into fast model iterations.

Production & Pipelines: Contribute to model deployment and forecasting pipeline improvements, while supporting broader data engineering efforts.

AI-Augmented Workflows: Use tools like Cursor, Claude, or similar to speed up development and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Benefits

Why You’ll Love Working Here:
  • Competitive Compensation: Including paid time off and health benefits.
  • Flat Team: Work side by side with the co-founding team.
  • Innovative Environment: Work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Impactful Work: Be part of a mission-driven company making a real difference.
